Got Crane?

SpaceRef.com has posted a NASA announcement soliticing "information about potential sources for replacement of industrial overhead bridge crane control, drive, and miscellaneous systems on the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) 175-ton crane located in the LC-39 Area of KSC, Florida 32899."

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) KSC is seeking capability statements from all interested parties ... for the purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition and/or small business subcontracting goals for replacing control systems, motor drive systems, and other miscellaneous equipment on an existing 175-ton overhead travelling bridge crane with approximately 160' hook height, 89' span, and 670' crane runway, in KSC's Vehicle Assembly Building.

More proof that NASA is investing in upgrading Kennedy Space Center for the next generation of human space flight.
