After departing NASA in early September, former Deputy Administrator Lori Garver has slowly increased the volume on her true opinions about the future direction of the government space program.
In mid-September, Garver revealed her distaste for the Space Launch System, which critics have labelled the Senate Launch System because it was imposed upon NASA without any missions or destinations.
Appearing January 2 on National Public Radio's The Diane Rehm Show, Garver called for SLS to be cancelled, urging that the savings be used to fund new technologies and capitalize on innovation by the private sector.
Garver was one of four guests on the panel, discussing the topic The Future of Space Exploration.
