President Barack Obama gave space exploration and science a major focus yesterday.
In the morning, the President spoke to NASA astronauts Mark Kelly and Kjell Lindgren on the International Space Station. The President focused on Kelly's one-year mission, developing the science for a human Mars mission in the 2030s.
The President told the astronauts:
As you know, I've tasked NASA to put us on a journey to Mars, and you're part of that process of helping us reach this goal.
Mr. Obama also mentioned the upcoming Astronomy Night at the White House later in the evening. The video of that event is below.
